The Green II supercomputer operated at Swinburne from 2012 until it was finally retired in 2019. It featured a compute component that was a hybrid of traditional x64 processing cores (the CPUs) and graphics processing units (GPUs). The compute nodes were combined with a petascale data store and the entire system was networked with QDR infiniband. The compute component comprised two facilities: the GPU Supercomputer for Theoretical Astrophysics Research (gSTAR) and the Swinburne Supercomputer for Theoretical Academic Research (swinSTAR). Many of the gSTAR and swinSTAR compute nodes live on within the OzSTAR environment.
